Captain Sir Tom Moore was the veteran who raised more than £33 million for NHS Charities Together during the first wave of Covid-19, ahead of his hundredth birthday in April 2020. I drew this celebratory illustration of Captain Tom as a personal project, marking the moment.

I worked in pen and ink in a style drawn from twentieth-century portrait illustration — careful likeness, restrained ornament, medals and regimental detail rendered at a scale true to the subject. The piece was made outside any commission, as a quiet studio tribute to a figure whose story carried through a strange national moment.
